1

Purpose

The project improves safety, mobility, and multimodal transportation while addressing equity for disadvantaged communities. It supports economic growth, fosters environmental sustainability with green infrastructure, and ensures community alignment through stakeholder engagement, promoting connectivity to key destinations and long-term resilience.

2

Scope

The project focuses on assessing transportation needs, establishing a community-supported vision for the 3.43-mile Commerce Street Corridor, and developing a preferred design concept with preliminary engineering and final design. Through meaningful public participation, the design aims to enhance safer intersections, multimodal connectivity, and improved drainage while strengthening flood resiliency, ensuring a more efficient and sustainable corridor for the community.

3

Funding

The project is funded through the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) grant program by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). This program supports surface transportation infrastructure projects that deliver significant local or regional benefits, particularly in historically disadvantaged and socially vulnerable communities.
